Call for Proposals
Share your experience with an international, interdisciplinary audience of scholars, educators and students to discuss and debate the challenges in talent development and honors in higher education.
We aim to strengthen the international body of theoretical and empirical knowledge on talent development and honors education, using multiple international viewpoints and bringing together different fields, disciplines, methodologies and practices to explore and create synergies.
To structure the conversation, we have identified four main tracks. We welcome proposals from either a research or a practice perspective. In keeping with the innovative spirit of honors education, we also offer the opportunity to use the ‘wild card’ option and send in contributions that do not fall under one of these tracks. You are invited to submit contributions in the following tracks:
Track 1: Innovations in Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment in Honors
This track is designed to provide opportunities to share current best practices in talent development programmes and honors education. Also, methods and outcomes of research pertaining to what is currently happening in honors education. Possible topics can include: existing examples of successful or challenging talent development programmes and honors practices; research on course design; honors pedagogies; assessment; learning communities; student recruitment and retention; issues of equity and access, and also faculty development in honors.
Track 2: Honors and Talent Development Experiences
This track emphasizes the student experience in honors and talent development programs. Proposals on characteristics of honors students, issues of diversity and inclusion, personalized learning, honors student committees and the honors community are examples of topics for discussion. Also, proposals on topics such as flourishing, well-being and mental health, self-knowledge and self-care of honors students, and alumni development are welcomed.
Track 3: Trends in Talent Development and Honors
Changing honors in a changing world: this track is about trends and the future of Honors. This can include digitalization, internationalization of honors, added value of honors or (re)definition of honors and talent development throughout the educational chain. Proposals may also address new research topics, pedagogical models, course curriculum and organizational structures, as institutions and higher education in general change in the 21st century.
Track 4: Honors, Talent Development and Society
Topics involving the impact of honors and talent development on society are welcomed in this track. Honors courses or research projects on societal issues such as poverty, climate change, sustainability, global citizenship, ethics and morality, leadership, challenges of a changing job market, community service and engagement, or the power of honors as a change agent are suitable in this track. Also, proposals in relation to the preparation of students for graduate and professional schools or careers or the connection of honors with the professional field are welcomed.
Use a “Wild Card” and surprise us!
If you wish to submit a proposal to address a unique topic in honors or present in a creative different format beyond the scope of the four tracks, we encourage you to submit your novel idea here, using the ‘wild card’ option for topic, format or both.
