Knowledge of the relevant anatomy, ex vivo physiology, procurement, surgical back table, specific perfusion protocols, and troubleshooting are essential to perform a successful perfusion. Particular knowledge about liver, kidney, heart, and lung perfusion, and normothermic regional perfusion will be discussed.
Teachers for liver perfusion are Prof. dr. Robert Porte, dr. Vincent de Meijer, and dr. Hans Blokzijl. Teachers for kidney perfusion are Prof. dr. Stefan Berger and dr. Cyril Moers. The teacher for heart perfusion is dr. Vincent van Suylen. The teachers for lung perfusion are dr. Erik Verschuuren and dr. Caroline van de Wauwer.
