Sophie Suri

Dr Sophie Suri is a research associate in the School of Health and Life Sciences at Teesside University and a research fellow for the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) Northeast and North Cumbria (NENC).

Sophie’s background is in sport and exercise science. She completed her BA (Sport) at Durham University in 2008 and MSc Sport and Exercise Science at Teesside University in 2013 before moving into health-based medicine.

Sophie’s own personal experiences with trauma and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) have led to her passion for empowering people to thrive with long-term health conditions. Her work focuses on research in these areas with particular interest in OCD. She believes strongly in patient-centred healthcare and specialises in Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement in research.

 

Session Bottom-up Valuing Users

Healthcare users are experts in the lived experience of their condition. This session explores how to work with people’s lived experience to shape more relevant and impactful research using ‘Citizen Science’ and ‘Patient and Public Involvement’ approaches.
