Experiences 4 June
On this day we visit our business clients like Museum-Omniversum, inspiration estate De Hoorneboeg, former prison Koepel, designstudio OMlab and designer Piet Hein Eek.
You are very welcome to see first-hand how savers' and investors' money is working towards positive change. The Experience Day is between 11am and 5pm. Everyone travels with the bus to and from the client visit.
Museum-Omniversum (The Hague)
Museon-Omniversum motivates its visitors to adopt an active attitude as global citizens by inspiring them to treat our planet with respect and by enthusing them to improve our daily lives. Together we go on a quest for solutions to make the world a better place. Because of our love and fascination for the Earth, we use our knowledge, network and exhibitions to address major global challenges and we provide concrete action frameworks for as many people as possible. The central idea is that everything is connected: We are One Planet! We are working together with the public, schools, government and businesses to realise a more sustainable future based on the ‘One Planet’ theme. We do this by inspiring one another, learning from each other, and collaborating. We call on everyone to join the Museon-Omniversum One Planet philosophy and help protect our beautiful planet and all living creatures.
The experience consists of a reception and welcome speech, interactive speed tour through the museum and a film screening.
De Hoorneboeg (Hilversum)
At De Hoorneboeg – in the middle of the forest on the edge of the Hilversumse Hei – the ordinary world feels miles away… This beautiful outdoor area connects people with themselves, with others and with nature.
The Hoorneboeg has had a history as a country estate for centuries. From 1792 onwards, stately country houses - always on top of the hill - alternated. In the meantime, something was sometimes built in other places. The gardener's house with a greenhouse, a guest house, a library and a farm with 2 large barns.
The country estate is located in the middle of the nature reserve of the Goois Nature Reserve. Just after you leave the 'main road' you drive over a cattle grid and you still have about a kilometer to go. The heath extends to your right and the forest begins on the other side.
This experience entails a reception in Bij de Tuinman’s vegetable garden. You can also decide to do either a nature workshop (making crafts by using products from or near nature), or a guided wild foraging walk before or after the reception.
Koepelgevangenis (former prison in Haarlem)
A former warder will guide you through the old cells of the transformed Koepel Prison, while sharing stories of prison life at the facility.
After four years of renovation, the Koepel Prison in Haarlem has been transformed from a house of detention into a civic space. The choice was made to not go for the highest bid, but to select the plan with the most added value for the city and its residents. Take part in a guided tour through the former cells, which have been converted into office spaces, a university, a cinema, an innovation center for small and medium-sized enterprises, a game museum, and an exhibition space.
During this experience 50 people can join a guided tour through the Koepelgevangenis and get a short video presentation about the construction of the building itself.
Piet Hein Eek (Eindhoven)
Piet Hein Eek, a graduate of the Design Academy, made a statement with his cabinet made of reclaimed wood. He demonstrated that imperfection can also be aesthetic and functional. His popularity grew, as did his collection of recycled materials. In 2005, he won the Woonprijs.
This experience entails a guided tour in small groups of max. 15 people of the hotel, his workplace and the showroom. Multiple tours will be organised so everyone who is interested can join.
OMlab (Arnhem)
Biocircular material designstudio Omlab explores ecologically friendly biodegradable (!) construction and infrastructure materials. Without fossil raw materials, minerals or chemicals that nature can’t use. The studio collaborates with construction and concrete companies, architects and education. Omlab participated in TNO Fieldlab in the context of The national emission-free building programme. It provided the (provisional) ECI of the lightweight material prototype Buildmatterial: 0.011 and kgCO2-eq:0.14.
The experience contains:
A plenary reception and an introduction movie
A tour outside and inside the building where Omlab is located while answering the following questions:
How did we start as a CPO (thanks to Triodos)?
What is the history of the place?
