On Thursday 12 June, the seventh edition of the annual BEI Meeting Neuroscience & Engineering will take place at TU Delft Aula Conference Centre. Researchers from TU Delft, Erasmus MC, EUR and LUMC are welcome to participate, and can bring a poster to present their work. MSc students interested in this topic are also cordially invited. Registration is open until 1 June (or until all 80 seats are filled).

Programme highlights

  • Ginny G. Farias of Utrecht University explores the role of organelle communication in neuronal polarity, with pioneering insights into axonal transport of lysosomes and proteins.

  • Vincent Blok of EUR and Wageningen University sheds a philosophical light on AI and emphasizes the importance of a multi-level approach.

  • Matin Jafarian of TU Delft delves into the mechanisms of brain memory and shows how systems and control engineering can contribute to better understanding and possible brain stimulation.

  • Eric Lowet of Erasmus MC presents the latest techniques in optical stimulation of deep brain circuits, and how these can contribute to treatments such as deep brain stimulation in Parkinson's disease.

  • Francesca Siclari of Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience will conclude the meeting with a lecture on the neurobiology of sleep and dreams, based on advanced EEG studies.

In addition, during the breaks and lunch there will be an inspiring poster session with topics ranging from 3D printed microenvironments for neural organoids to new voltage sensors and simulation platforms. Shortly before lunch break, four participants will have the opportunity to briefly present their poster to the audience.

Feel free to notify your colleagues and don't forget your poster if you want to present your research!

Looking forward to meeting you there,

Kristin Grußmayer, Daan Brinks & Nienke van Bemmel
