Excursion to Recover-E (at SiSo, Almere)

E-waste is one of the fastest growing waste streams worldwide. In the Netherlands annually 1 million working places are replaced by new ICT hardware. As business, organizations and private users of ICT equipment, selling, donating or simply disposing of our old or aging products typically marks the end of their use. But have you ever thought about what happens with these products after that? Recover-E® is a shared responsibility program that is firmly rooted in the circular economy, the products and the materials they contain can remain valuable and reusable for as long as possible. By involving everyone from product owner and user, to recoverer and recycler in this approach, there is no waste. Instead, we can increase transparency in the chain by encouraging each player to contribute to and take responsibility for the solution. In this way, everyone has a shared responsibility for the highest shared benefits.

In an interactive workshop Recover-E will give an introduction of its model and how it is rooted in the Circular Economy. In separate groups you will have a tour in the refurbishment facility, you will practice a ‘refurbishment’ yourself and we will have discussions on how the Recover-E model can be applied in a circular procurement strategy for ICT equipment.

Rijksmuseum (at Amsterdam)

The Rijksmuseum is the museum of the Netherlands. In 2013, an entirely renovated Rijksmuseum opened its doors to the public. They are greeted by a stunning building, amazing interior design, wonderful exhibitions, lively events, and many fine amenities for young and old. At the Rijksmuseum, art and history take on new meaning for a broad-based, contemporary national and international audience.

As a national institute, the Rijksmuseum offers a representative overview of Dutch art and history from the Middle Ages onwards, and of major aspects of European and Asian art.

In the Golden Age, the Dutch painting comes to prosperity. The Rijksmuseum is the place to see Rembrandt, Vermeer, Jan Steen and Frans Hals. And why the Nightwatch is so special? This tour makes it clear. In an hour you can see the highlights of Dutch painting in the 17th century.

You can also download the Rijksmuseum app. Guided by this official Rijksmuseum multimedia tour, you can browse through the Rijksmuseum in any particular order, getting to know the artworks at your leisure.
