The excursion day will contain two types of field excursions, one to the north of the Netherlands and one to the south. We will travel by bus and lunch will be provided.
If you attend the conference the costs for the excursion are € 50,00 per person.

Hogekamp was an abandoned building on the University of Twente campus in the Netherlands. Original designed as an university building for teaching and research it has been replaced by newer buildings. The building is now being deep renovated into a student hostel and hotel. Camelot is the real estate developer of the property and is the European leader in the field of management of empty stands/assets. Camelot invests in (vacant) property and transforms it into different housing concepts to specific audiences based on a variety of flexible rental contracts. The Department of Real Estate focuses, in particular, on the redevelopment and reallocation of existing property for specific target groups. Installation of a new building shell together with a new HVAC system (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) will provide an energy saving of close to 70% compared to the current building. This will be simply achieved by making use of the embodied energy entailed in this non-functional building. Prefab solutions (e.g. facades and bathrooms) will be applied on this project what will allow to reach the 50% savings in renovation time.
In November the student hotel will be finished and the ‘tower’ will still be in transition. We will get a tour and presentation of the hotel and the constructions done. Lunch will be provided
WEBO is a timber factory for prefab facades. The prefab facades are made directly from BIM models. The facades can be placed on site without scaffolding which results in less failure and reconciliation costs, a fast construction time with minimal inconvenience for the occupant. The products are assembled with high-quality insulation up to an U-value of 0.125 or lower, and air tightness (Qv10=0.15). Cost savings is gained due to lighter foundation and support construction required with respect to traditional system. At the WEBO factory we will attend presentations and we will attend a tour through the factory which will be at full throttle during our presencel.

Eisenhower II is a multifamily home in Sittard which is recently renovated. Here the largest solar façade in the Netherlands is realized. A total of 308 ZigZagSolar cassettes have been mounted on this 35 meter high and 14 meter wide façade, together providing 32.000 Wp, resulting in an annual yield of more than 30.000 kilowatts. The sustainable ambitions of housing association ZoWonen made this façade possible. LENS energie has taken care of the pv-panels on the roof, so that the combination of ZigZagSolar-façade and roof panels form an ideal combination. The generated energy is entirely for the use of the tenants, whereby the distribution to the individual homes is provided by the LENS-Herman system.
SUPERLOCAL is an innovative real estate project in Kerkrade-Oost. Three high-rise apartment buildings will be transformed in a sustainable manner to around 125 new apartments. The ambition of the project is to use only the materials from the existing buildings during the construction of the new dwellings. All the materials will stay in the project area and are recycled if possible. Experiments are executed on site with new techniques and construction methods, starting with existing materials. In June 2017, the experimental demolition and disassembly of one of the SUPERLOCAL flats was started. A pilot building is made with the materials that were released. An apartment that is lifted from the top floor of the apartment building forms the hull of pilot building. Materials such as window frames and doors are reused. The pilot building provides insight into whether reusing these materials in practice makes sense and if it is possible use the same technique for a larger building. If so, an attempt is made to apply this method in the continuation of the process.
We will receive a presentation and tour on the building site. The constructions will still be going on during our visit, so we will see some construction works done. Lunch will be provided.
