Climate change adaptation in the North Sea region

Using nature-based solutions and adaptive asset management to prevent flooding

The EU Interreg VB North Sea region projects FAIR and Building with Nature hereby cordially invite you to attend the “Climate change adaptation in the North Sea region” conference. Since both our projects are now halfway, we would like to share the knowledge we have gained so far. Although we focus mainly on the North Sea region, we strive for a knowledge base that can be applied more broadly in the European Union and beyond.

This mid-term conference will take place on Thursday, March 8, 2018 in Beach Pavilion Struin in Schoorl, the Netherlands.

Why we think you should attend:

  • Get informed about the progress of FAIR and Building with Nature.
  • Meet other experts working on climate change adaptation in the North Sea region.
  • Learn more about interesting projects that protect the North Sea region from flooding.
  • Discover how other countries are dealing with similar challenges.
  • See examples of nature-based solutions and learn about adaptive asset management at the Petten Sea Defence.

About the FAIR project
The flood defence infrastructure across the North Sea region is ageing. The question is when, where and how flood defences need to be upgraded. In FAIR we collaborate with 12 partners to develop instruments for long-term planning and adaptive design.

About the Building with Nature project
Building with Nature is a cooperation of 15 partner organisations working on a framework and evidence base for the use of nature-based solutions. This goes beyond mere technical aspects and involves socio-economic cost-benefit relations as well as a strong focus on dissemination through policy learning.
