Imagine that the future would consist solely of personalised products; what impact will that have on the role of the designer? This is just one of the issues noted in the Smart Industry agenda. The Smart Industry symposium focuses on the future of the Dutch manufacturing industry as one complete operational network.

The fourth industrial revolution is imminent. Developments like robotisation, connecting smart production facilities via The Internet Of Things, big data, additive manufacturing, customisation, co-creation of value networks, and innovation in ‘field-labs' are all going to radically change the design sector and the manufacturing industry.

At the Smart Industry symposium , inspiring images are drawn of these fascinating future scenarios and the opportunities they present for the creative industries. The audience will then be challenged to respond to the action plan which has been prepared by a team of Smart Industry experts in recent months.
