CREATE ENERGY

Twelve projects are currently kickstarting the Green Deal Smart Energy Cities in Amsterdam, Arnhem, Eindhoven, Enschede and Groningen. All these projects aim to design the energy transformation at a local level, with a special focus on local residents. Service Designers operate locally as Creative producers to support these multi-stakeholder projects. How do they operate? How do they intervene and re-design these projects? How do they ensure residents’ involvement and co-creation?

A designers approach to a Sustainable City
Becoming Smart Energy Cities demands a different attitude of citizens as well as professionals. Understanding the specific context and (largely latent) human needs are crucial to successful interventions. Working with several service designers (for instance in the Green Deal Smart Energy Cities) the Center of Expertise Smart Sustainable Cities develops a growing knowledge base on both designerly ways to guide the transition and the actionable ingredients, such as design patterns and knowledge from behavioural science, that can be used. Learn how a designers approach changes the way local energy transition projects are conducted!

speaker: Remko van der Lugt & Marieke Rietbergen
