Data management: from burden to benefit
Date & time: 2 October 2018, 13:30 - 15:30 - Room: Spark
Are you looking for ways to efficiently manage your research data and improve the quality of your research? Please join this workshop to discuss and practice with new tools for FAIR research data management: the Data Stewardship Wizard and FAIR metrics.
We will show how these tools can make data management a valuable exercise instead of a bureaucratic hurdle. The tools may help you to make data management more efficient and tailored to your research project. They guide you to services to comply with the FAIR Principles, help you to assess the level of FAIRness of your data, and show ways for improvement. They will also make your data management plan (DMP) ‘machine actionable’, which means that it can partly be filled automatically and that the data from the DMP can be used for statistical or planning purposes by funders and institutes.
During the workshop, we will inform you about the tools:
- What are they exactly?
- When are they ready to apply in data management?
- How do research funders and institutes value them?
In groups, we will discuss and practice how the FAIR metrics can be adapted to the context of a specific research community. The tools are still under development and the workshop offers a good moment to give us your input as to their practical usability.
- Data stewards and other experts supporting data management at research institutes and research infrastructures
