Break-out 8: Why European Health Data Exchange Matters in a Changing World

Description

  • What is the power of data sharing across Europe?   Europe is a uniquely diverse continent, home to well‑organised healthcare systems and a highly skilled workforce, a combination which offers a strong foundation for a modern, collaborative health data ecosystem. We will explore how Europe’s population diversity, robust healthcare structures and specialised expertise can be leveraged more effectively. How can a coherent European health data infrastructure unlock this potential? What is the strategic value of European data in today’s global landscape? And how can Europe turn its diversity into a genuine competitive advantage?

  • How do international projects and companies already collaborate?  Experts from a range of cross‑border collaborations and industry partnerships will come together to reflect on the impact of their joint efforts. They will share insights into what these collaborations have achieved to date, and discuss lessons learned in relation to data access, standards, and governance, highlighting both the practical value of international cooperation and the conditions needed to strengthen it further.

  • What changes under the European Health Data Space (EHDS)?  The panel will examine how the European Health Data Space is set to reshape data sharing and data access across Europe. Speakers will discuss the practical implications for organisations, citizens and innovators, and reflect on what the EHDS means for future governance, interoperability and collaboration within the European health data landscape.

  • These questions will be discussed in a panel discussion where experts engage with each other and the audience.
