Dear soon-to-be student,

How exciting that you will be studying in Delft soon! Through this form you can sign up for the Delft Introduction Days (OWee) and the Freshmen Weekend (EJW) of your study. It is possible to sign up for only the OWee, only the Freshmen Weekend or both. There is no better way to start student life than joining these events!

This year the OWee will be adapted to current circumstances regarding Covid-19. The digital day of the OWee will take place on Tuesday the 10th of August. The physical introduction days will take place between Sunday the 15th and Friday the 20th of August.  Depending on Government measures or recommendations from the RIVM (National Institute for Public Health), it will be possible to follow a physical introduction programme for 1 to 3 days. As safety is our first priority, we will ensure that each participant can be received safely in Delft.

During the OWee you will experience everything Delft has to offer regarding studies, culture, sports and leisure, and you can also get to know all student- and sports associations. In addition you can get to know the city and the campus before the first term starts.

If you sign up for the OWee through this form and receive a confirmation mail, you will be guaranteed to be able to participate.

In case you have any questions, you can send an email to info@owee.nl. In urgent cases you can call 015-2786709.

See you at the OWee!

NoteThis form is only for international students who are going to study:

  • Applied Earth Sciences
  • Aerospace Engineering
  • Computer Science and Engineering
  • Nanobiology

For Dutch students and international students who speak Dutch, we would like to refer you to the Dutch registration form (Registratie OWee 2021).

Disclaimer Media

During the OWee, pictures and videos will be taken. When using this material in publications it will be handled with care and integrity. Any pictures, video- and audio material will be mostly used for our website and social media platforms. In case you do no want material that features you to be published, you can contact the OWee Board to have it deleted.

Basic Information

Please fill in below on which address you would like to receive mail regarding the OWee and the Freshmen Weekend.

Further Information

Do you have different allergies or dietary restrictions? Please write them down below. Unfortunately we cannot take every allergy into account but we try to accomodate your wishes as much as possible.

During the physical days of the OWee, there will be a lot of walking. We recommend not participating in this part of the introduction days. In case you think you can find a solution, please contact info@owee.nl. We can then discuss if this solution will suffice and you can still participate in the physical introduction days.

During the physical OWee, you will need a bicycle. You will need to provide this bicycle yourself. In the confirmation mail of this application form you will receive an overview of how you can get a bicycle.

Considering that there are a limited number of OV bicycles (rentable with a public transport card) at Delft Central Station, we recommend getting a bicycle in Delft beforehand. You could borrow someone else's bicycle or get the bicycle you will use during your studies in Delft in time for the introduction days.

If you are not capable of biking during the live OWee because of a (physical) disability, please contact us through info@owee.nl. We will try to help you find a suitable solution.

Study

For TU Delft Master's students there is a separate introduction event, the Introduction programme (IP). During this event you will also get to know the campus, the city, other Master's students, the TU Delft's study culture and the academic skills you will need during your studies.

You are allowed to participate in the OWee as a master's student. However, you should keep in mind that the focus of the OWee is on freshmen, so the programme may not align with the needs of students who have progressed further in their university career.

Because of our limited capacity we would like to give as as many freshmen as possible the opportunity to participate in the OWee.

This is why we would like to recommend second year students to apply as an OWee mentor, because we could really use your help. As a mentor you can still experience the OWee while also showing a new group of students everything Delft has to offer.

Keep an eye on our social media pages to be updated on when the applications for mentors open. You can also sign up here if you want to receive an email from the OWee when registrations for mentors open.

If you will be following a study that is given at two or more universities, and one of these universities includes TU Delft, you can fill in TU Delft at the previous question.

If you have chosen this study, please fill in the Dutch form here!

Participation Freshman Weekend (EJW)

The following questions are asked on behalf of the study association of Applied Earth Sciences, 'Mijnbouwkundige Vereeniging'.

Dear Prospective student of AES,

During the First Year’s Weekend we will go to Belgium and Germany. With a Dutch study visa you can go to these countries. However, it can take some time for the TU Delft to approve and give you your visa (8 weeks approximately, according to the TU Delft website). Therefore, we need to know if you have received your visa before the trip. If you could enter your email address in the box below, we can contact you about your visa.

Of course if you do not have a valid visa before the 12th of August, you will get a full refund of the trip. (If you do have a valid visa and you do not show up, you will not get a refund). The first years weekend is the perfect opportunity for all prospective students to get to know each other and the bachelors programme, so sign up, even if you are not sure whether you’ll get your visa in time!

Participation OWee

The programme of the 2021 edition of the OWee consists of several parts, which will be elaborated on below:

•    Digital platform
When you sign up as a participant for the digital and/or live OWee, you get access to the digital OWee-platform. During your summer vacation you will already be able to discover student life in Delft through videos, podcasts, interviews and much more!

•    Digital OWee
- The digital part of the OWee will take place on Tuesday the 10th of August. This day will include the central opening, followed by a number of digital events.

•    Physical OWee
- There are multiple scenarios for the physical OWee. Depending on the Covid-19 measures in place, participants will be invited to come to Delft for 1, 2 or 3 days. These physical days will take place between the 15th and 20th of August.  The specific division of days is dependent on your study, and will be communicated at a later time.

- In case there will be multiple physical days, we will facilitate safe overnight accommodations according to the guidelines of the government and security region. You can register for a spot later in this form.

- It is not clear yet if it will be possible to organise a test event during the OWee or if proofs of vaccination can be used. We will offer an alternative program for participants who do not want to attend a test event. As soon as there is more information we will post this on the website.

- Safety is our first priority, so we will ensure that each participant can be received safely in Delft. Currently, the programme is organized to ensure that the 1.5 meter distance rule can be complied with. As long as this rule is enforced by the government, we will uphold it as well. Each participant will also be asked to complete a health check prior to the physical OWee

•    Registration Fees
- The signup fee may vary depending on the scenario that will apply for this OWee. Currently, we ask each participant to pay a fee of €75 for the physical OWee and €15 for the digital OWee.

- If you want to sign up for the physical OWee, you also have to be signed up for the digital OWee.

- When you sign up for the digital and/or physical OWee you get automatic access to the OW platform for free. More information about the definitive opening of the platform will follow in the confirmation email.

- If we are unable to organize the full program of the OWee, due to Covid-19, the difference in registration fee will be refunded. This amount will be refunded after the OWee (20 August), with a payment term of 60 days at the latest.

If you do not sign up for the digital OWee, it is not possible to sign up for the physical OWee.

In the case of a programme spanning multiple days, there will be a accommodations arranged on the TU Delft campus. These will comply with the guidelines of the government and security region, to ensure safe overnight accommodations. To guarantee 1.5 meter distance we will facilitate individual tents for each participant.

Because there is limited capacity, we assume that participants who can arrange for accomodations in or close to Delft through relatives or friends will sleep there.

We would like to ask you to sign up for an accommodation arranged by the OWee before July 16 via this form. You will then receive a confirmation of your reservation by e-mail no later than 20 July.

You pay a deposit of €15 for an overnight stay. This deposit will be refunded when you leave your tent in a tidy manner. This means that all parts, such as pegs, caps, etc., are present and the place is clean. The deposit amount will be refunded after the OWee (20 August), with a payment term of 60 days at the latest.

Have you registered for the physical OWee without signing up for accomodation, and would you like a place here after all? Send an email to info@owee.nl before the 16th of July. After July 16 it is only possible to register for an accommodation if there are still places left.

If you sign up for an accommodation during registration and later decide you want to cancel it, we ask you to contact us before 16 July via info@owee.nl. You will then be refunded the deposit costs.

cost of the ticket and the deposit (excl. administration costs). When canceling after July 16, only the deposit (excl. administration costs) will be refunded. In the event that you cancel after July 16, you will only receive a part of the deposit (€10) back. In both cases, the payment term is no later than 60 days after the OWee (August 20).

Final Questions

During the OWee you can pay for consumptions with coins (rate: €7,50 for 5 coins). One drink costs one coin. In this form you can already buy coins in advance so that you don't have to queue during the OWee.
