Delft University of Technology is developing a wind energy system which uses the traction power of a tethered flexible wing. The project is co-sponsored by the Rotterdam Climate Initiative and since its maiden flight in January 2010 the 20 KW technology demonstrator has been systematically improved. Reaching the key milestone of automatic operation in spring 2012, the prototype is now at a level suitable for commercial development.
