What is the Roadmap Next Economy?

A focal point within the Roadmap Next Economy (RNE)  is the question: which revenue models will ensure business growth in this region? Start-ups have an important contribution in generating revenue streams, hence that’s why we search for the NEXT Entrepreneur. We ask for input to make sure that the roadmap includes the start-up initiatives that will make this region ready for future developments and will create new employment possibilities. We see three pathways with opportunities:

1. Digital Gateway (towards zero marginal cost)

This pathway  covers the increased digital connectivity, big data platforms, smart logistics, IoT networks, sensors, etc. This concerns all the actions that need to be taken to erect the digital communication infrastructure to enable the region to increase the data productivity.

2. Smart Energy Delta (towards zero carbon)

This pathway covers renewables as the main power sources using decentralised solar, on and offshore wind, smart grids, electric or fuel cell vehicles used as storage, etc. This concerns all the actions that need to be taken to erect the renewable energy infrastructure  (or energy internet) that will enable the region to increase its energy productivity

3. Circular Economy (towards zero waste)

This pathway covers the reuse of resources and waste streams, waste materials, recycling, upcycling, biobased, etc. This concerns all the actions that need to be taken in order to increase the region's resource productivity.

This all will contribute to the Entrepreneurial Region (towards a productive region), in which transsectoral cross-overs, new value chains, new business models, new products and services are made possible by the new digital & circular infrastructure.
