Studio RoboCrops Programme

July 21st

Picking robot technology for greenhouse fruit crops (cucumber, sweet pepper, eggplant, soft fruit)

During this first edition of Studio RoboCrops, you will learn first-hand the key challenges identified by growers of cucumber, sweet peppers, eggplants and soft fruit, concerning the automation of their harvesting process.

Which developers are currently working on commercial robots for a range of crops? What are specific challenges for different crops on the path towards a commercially viable robot? For example, which innovations are being developed to identify which cucumbers to harvest, or how to pick soft fruit in a gentle way? In this first edition, companies will pitch their company and technology and we will get a perspective from growers and sector experts on this topic.

Picking robot technology for greenhouse tomatoes

This Studio RoboCrops will specifically discuss technology and developments on harvesting automation of truss tomatoes. Which companies are working on this technology? What added value can technology bring, except replacing labour? What are the hurdles in the path towards a commercially viable robot? During this edition, multiple robotized tomato-picking companies will present their innovations and discuss how growers will benefit from using it.

Robot technology for other greenhouse applications (harvest prediction, integrated plant health, etc.)

This last version will be focussed on robot applications in the greenhouse other than harvesting. How far advanced is harvest prediction technology, and what are the next steps? What innovations are being developed for integrated plant health? What other applications are in the pipeline? Which automation solutions have the highest priority for growers? Companies will pitch their automation solutions, and growers and experts will share their insights.
