In this digital detox clinic, you will take a closer look at your use of information technology. Is IT working for you? We zoom into your use of the internet, social media and your smart phone, and how they influence your life for the better and worse. What would you love to keep and change? We invite you to reflect about how you connect to the outside: are you in touch with the real world, or could you be living in a filter bubble? Sharing tips and tricks, we will challenge you to a more mindful IT-use during your studies and beyond. You will leave this lecture with a concrete plan on how to achieve greater presence and purpose with your IT-use.

The art of effective learning strategies

Research shows that 60-90% of higher education students use learning strategies that are largely ineffective, for example highlighting or rereading text, which leads to lower exam results. But what learning strategies are effective and why? And how can students start using these?
In this workshop, extensively replicated research from educational psychology on effective learning strategies will be shared and applied to studying in a problem-based learning environment. Afterwards, time will be dedicated to learning how to apply these strategies in your own self-study.
