Student Wellbeing is an important topic within Maastricht University (UM), which means that students are encouraged to be concerned with the physical and mental wellbeing of themselves and each other. Mentors, tutors, coaches and teaching staff who provide one-on-one guidance to students are also involved in identifying psychological problems and complaints.
Suicidality occurs in these conversations. In addition to signals from students, there have also been some incidents in recent years. Therefore the Suicide prevention training Gatekeeper of 113 Zelfmoordpreventie is offered to employees in order to be able to recognise signals by asking questions and by referring to the right care.
This is a training offered by the UM Psychologists in collaboration with 113 Zelfmoordpreventie.
