Welcome to the event website of SUSLAB hackathon

SusLab & Delft Environment Initiative offer an intensive afternoon workshop where you can hack existing technologies and explore new innovations around saving energy in the home environment.

This will start with a lunch lecture to introduce the TU community to the SusLab project.

SusLab is an international project around saving energy in the home environment. Key elements are the Living Labs, the shared sensor network to take measurements in households in the four participating countries and the shared database which gathers all the data. SusLab aims to set up an international infrastructure to test and develop innovative solutions that help reduce energy in the home environment.

To realise a substantial energy reduction however, understanding the behaviour around energy of the people who live in the houses (the energy users) is as important as the development of technological innovations. SusLab unites these two aspects in obtaining both objective data through the sensor network and qualitative data through direct user feedback.

The lunch lecture will introduce students and staff of all faculties to the SusLab project. In the afternoon a smaller number (about 30) of students (but also staff) across the university will be challenged in a ‘Hackathon’ to hack existing technologies (the toolkits and methods developed for SusLab) and to create new innovations around the challenges of saving energy in the home environment. Several briefs to explore and discover new uses of our toolbox and prototypes will be offered during the session. The ‘Hackathon’ will be a great opportunity for the participants to have an interactive and creative afternoon!

Lunch & drinks are provided and there will be prizes!

Open to students and staff from all disciplines.
