10:00 - 12:00 | Student Happiness in Corona Times

Workshop with Erik Roebroek of Meaningful Work | Online

The corona measures have had an enormous impact on us, and are still affecting our lives intensely. Now that we are deep into the second wave, it might be a good time for some reflection. What have you learned from the months of studying by yourself, what are the things you miss, what have you actually learned to appreciate and what have you come to understand about yourself? How do you deal with a collapsed social life, how is your intrinsic motivation for your study affected by the lockdown, and what lessons do you want to share and take with you to the future? In this workshop we will discuss these questions together, dive into theory behind (study) happiness and actively form new connections to empower ourselves to create a meaningful student life in Corona times!
The workshop will be given by Erik Roebroek, founder and trainer at Meaningful Work.

19:00-20:30|How to overcome FOMO.X-mas Edition!

A quick guide to recognize and hack the mechanisms that create feelings of jealousy, loneliness and worthlessness.

Masterclass by Drs. Eugène Oostveen|Online

Ever felt excluded, left out, or alone? Or afraid you missed an event or something really rewarding? And by what trigger was it caused? It sure has something to do with being related to (important) others or your wish to be more happy than you are now.
FOMO is generally approached in two ways: ‘missing something fun or exciting’ or ‘others do or have something great and I don’t’. But there are important mechanisms lying underneath that can be changed. It’s about group behaviour, the fear of being left out, and your limited capability of HOYO: being Happy On Your Own.
From a young age we care much about what other people think and we try to be part of a group. We crave for growth and input. This mechanism of connecting and staying connected and not missing anything, is exhaustive. But why do we do that? And why does it feel so harsh, when you're not part of something that’s going on? Particular when it’s experienced by a group of your interest? And how to overcome the feelings induced by that, especially nowadays, with the holidays and COVID?
In this especially designed masterclass we teach you how to recognize various pitfalls that create the fear of missing out, like negative thinking, negative visualisation and ‘peer group (safety) behaviour’. You acquire knowledge about the underlying mechanism, we discuss how FOMO creates self fulfilling prophecies, and important, we practice HOYO. Always handy, whether we lived in a cave 10.000 years ago or nowadays with all the content at your fingertips.

19:00-20:30|Thoughtful Thinking

A quick guide to re-evaluate negative limiting thoughts, make realistic comparisons and feel equal to anyone.

Masterclass by Drs. Eugène Oostveen|Online

Ever compared yourself with others? And what was the conclusion? And did it contribute to your self esteem and your self confidence? Nope. Unfortunately it doesn’t work. But you just don’t seem to succeed in preventing yourself from this comparing thingy.
We try to be part of a group starting from a young age. We care too much about what other people think. And finally when we don't care anymore, we’re about 70 years old. In all the effort to look, behave and do good based on your comparisons you do things that don’t fit you, you make choices you regret, and in the end you feel lonely and exhausted. You wear a coat that doesn’t fit and isn’t yours.
How to apply this wisdom of the elderly on a young adult brain? What if you could apply these mindset hacks on your own thoughts and transform them into profitable, self assured cognitions and realistic comparisons.
In this especially designed masterclass we teach you how to track and crack your limiting beliefs about yourself. With just a few core questions you can start being a true positive self-coach. We teach you the principles of cognitive behavioral theory in easy to apply steps in order to make you feel self confident with realistic and neutral comparisons regardless of the situation or whoever you are with. Power to you!
