About the organisers
Studio Europa Maastricht is a centre of expertise for Europe-related debate and research. Founded in 2018 and supported by the partners of the Maastricht, Working on Europe programme: Maastricht University, the Province of Limburg and the City of Maastricht. Together we aim to position Maastricht as a meeting place for citizen dialogue and debate and establish a centre of excellence for research on Europe and European integration.
The Centre for European Research in Maastricht (CERiM) is a Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence. It is an interdisciplinary research venue creating synergies and stimulating joint projects and events in the fields of European law, governance, and their respective history. It brings together researchers from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASoS), the Faculty of Law (FL), and the University College Maastricht of Maastricht University (UCM). CERiM links the FASoS research programme Politics and Culture in Europe with the Maastricht Centre for European Law (FL), and the Montesquieu Institute Maastricht (FL with participation of FASoS).
SUM2030 is Maastricht University's effort for a sustainable world through its research and education and leading by example in its operations. Its aim is to integrate sustainability in the DNA of the entire organisation by 2030. To reach that aim UM has created the programme Sustainable UM2030 that will work on sustainability issues. The programme consists of researchers, teachers, faculty liaisons and UM policy makers and works with students via the UM Green Office.
The Faculty of Law at Maastricht University is a top-quality provider of challenging and rewarding Dutch and European legal education at bachelor’s, master’s and PhD-level. A true pioneer in small-scale teaching and teaching of skills aimed at a broad range of future legal professionals.
The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences is one of the six faculties at Maastricht University. It was founded in 1994. The faculty offers a place where scholars with different disciplinary backgrounds - historians, political scientists, literary and arts scholars, sociologists, anthropologists, philosophers and others - are brought together in joint research. This interdisciplinary approach is predominant in our teaching as well; all of our programmes acquaint students with different disciplines and perspectives.
This event is one of the activities taking place in the context of the Jean Monnet Module on “EU Democracy: Engaging Young Citizens”, which receives co-funding from the European Union. Views and opinions expressed are however those of the speakers and author(s) only and do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union or the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). Neither the European Union nor EACEA can be held responsible for them.
