Blue Planet group activity
Light as the key to global environmental sustainability
During the group activity all attending PhD students will be divided into groups to answer the following question:
How can photonics increase sustainability for the (near) future?
Within the group we expect you to think out of the box. Think about the use of optical and photonic technologies in new market areas. Consider applications of existing optical technologies that can be combined with other technologies to increase sustainability.
You can choose 3 market areas listed below. The organization will create the groups based on your favourite choices.
- Health
- Agrifood
- Energy transition
- Waste management
- Manufacturing industry
- Safety and security
- Communication
- Leisure & travel (including sports)
The presentation of the group results will be on day 2.
Organization expects a short presentation with no more than 4 slides.
Following questions ought to be answered:
Which sustainability challenge do you solve?
Which photonic technologies are being used?
What are the challenges that need to be overcome?
What other technologies do you need to collaborate with or incorporate to make it a success?
