Conservation professionals frequently encounter common challenges and ethical dilemmas when involved in in-situ conservation activities. However, imagine a workshop designed to improve both the efficiency and ethics of your conservation efforts? If you are about to / already working / supporting an in-situ conservation project, then this workshop is for you! By understanding the PARTNERS principals, participants will have improved their skills towards a more open, ethical, and inclusive approach to community involvement. Join us!

Course Aims

In this 1-day workshop, the tutors will introduce three or four of the eight principles, 'Presence', 'Aptness', 'Respect', 'Transparency', 'Negotiation', 'Empathy', 'Responsiveness', and 'Strategic Support'. Together, participants and tutors will define community, share examples of community conservation experiences and discuss what makes successful community engagement. 


Learning Outcomes 

* engage more effectively and ethically with communities in conservation;

* reflect on the challenges faced by community conservation initiatives;

* collaboratively work out how to address the challenges and opportunities.


Assessment

No prior knowledge or experience is essential. However, experience in implementing or supporting community conservation efforts and willingness to share those experiences would be valuable.
