Meet Up with a Sudanese Political Refugee

Thursday 25 April, 18:30 – 20:00
Karl Dittrich Hall, Student Services Center, Bonnefantenstraat 2

Hassan Ahmed is a recognised political refugee in Belgium, who made the journey to Brussels from Sudan, via Libya and Lampedusa, after a dangerous crossing of the Mediterranean Sea. He was 12 when he fled his village to avoid the crimes of the Janjaweed militia, and arrived in Belgium as unaccompanied minor at the age of 16. He is currently pursuing a double bachelor's degree in law and economics at the University of Saint-Louis Brussels.

Hassan will share his personal story and talk about human trafficking, access to public services, particular education and healthcare, resilience and more.

This lecture is organised by Unicef Student Team Maastricht (USTM) and Amnesty International Maastricht Students (AIMS) and supported by the OmniUM Dialogue Centre.
