Grant writing sessions

The Teams links will be sent closer to the event.

Session 1: 13 January 13-14:30  In this session, you will learn the basic structure of a grant proposal, which you can apply to any funding opportunity. You will take part in practical activities and have the chance to write material you can use in the future. This workshop is useful for people who want to apply for funding successfully, improve their academic writing skills, and learn how to give feedback on grant proposals.

Session 2: 21 January 13-14:30   In this session, you will learn how to plan the structure of a project and connect it to a budget. You will also learn how to create a data management plan and make sure your grant follows the rules. We will look at the requirements for UM, NWO, and European Commission grants. This workshop is suitable for people who have never applied for a grant before. It is linked to Session 1 but can be attended on its own.

Session 3: 29 January 14-15:30  In this session, you will learn how grant reviewers think and how to meet their expectations with language, structure, and the right details. We will also talk about where to find research funding opportunities and how to plan projects based on available funding. This workshop is useful for people who want to improve their grant writing skills and include grant funding in their career plans. It is connected to Session 1.

(These sessions are appropriate for anyone at any career level, including PhD candidates. However, some even more basic information about research funding will be presented in a training specifically for PhD students in March. If you have any questions about what is appropriate for you, please contact Michael Erard, funding advisor.)
