Can you hear the music?

Music affects us. Music connects us. It transcends barriers and brings us together; it's like a universal language that speaks to our hearts. More than the notation, more than the score, it is about how you perform it. It's about colour and poetry, stories and feelings. Music can help us to make sense of life. Patterns, rhythms and algorithms. We use these to make sense of the world, from the smallest building blocks of life to the birth of our cosmos. But, like music, technology is not just about knowing the principles or doing sums; it's about applying them to make a positive impact. It is about creativity, curiosity and understanding at a deeper level. At this year's opening of the academic year, we will come together at the intersection of music and science to find a common rhythm and harmony.
