Writing for edUMinded is a wonderful opportunity to try your proverbial pen, and articulate ideas that matter, without the strict rules of an academic publication. Is your idea interesting enough? Will you strike the right tone? Can you inspire others within the UM teaching and learning community?

In this session, editors Sueli Brodin and Oscar van den Wijngaard will walk you through a few helpful steps towards sharing your ideas, experiences and expertise, with plenty of time to start working on your article. (4/12)

Universal design for learning (UDL) is a teaching approach that works to accommodate the needs and abilities of all learners and eliminate unnecessary hurdles in the learning process. This approach takes into account the diversity of learning styles, backgrounds, interests and challenges. This offers an optimal learning climate for every student with fewer ad hoc adjustments, lower costs and more study success for all students. At Maastricht University, many examples of UDL-education practices already exist.

Eveline Persoon and Iris Burks will kick off the start of a Community of (best) Practices to accommodate the exchange of these practices and to inspire each other. (4/30)

Gasper Gardeniers is the HAVO dean at Porta Mosana College in Maastricht and helped the EDLAB team to develop an AI chatbot, EDbot, especially for the EDLAB-X experience.

Developing prompts for educational purposes is a process of experimenting, adjusting, and trying again. Casper explains how he developed a bot to coach secondary school students and, based on this bot, co-developed EDbot for EDLAB. He will give you tips to build your own AI chatbot. (9/15)
