The following 10th of September, the iGEM team of Maastricht University, in collaboration with OmniUM will be organizing an Open Debate about the role of GMOs (living things whose genetic material, or DNA, has been artificially altered using genetic engineering techniques) in society. This debate will take place in Kaleido (Tapijnkazerne 21, Maastricht), and it will feature four
speakers who have a significant professional relationship with GMOs. This panel of professionals will be composed by Dr. Massimiliano Simons, Dr. Erik Steen Redeker, Dr. Tsjalling Swierstra, and Anirudh Rajesh. We look forward to the assistance of as many people as possible, since it will be an open debate in which the public will be encouraged to participate in the argument and to give their own arguments regarding the role that GMOs should play in society both today and in the future.
