General information

• The school will take place on campus at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU). There will be no options to participate online.
• Please read the general information on this page before registering.

 

Are you a student who started a Research Master's (RM) programme in The Netherlands per 1 September 2025?

• First-year RM (RM1) students can only register for RM1 courses.
• RM1 students can sign up for a maximum of two RM1 courses.
• RM students can only participate in the LOT school if they are affiliated with one of the LOT-affiliated institutes, or registered with one of the other LOGOS research schools. 

 

Are you a student who started the Research Master's programme before 1 February 2025?

• RM students can only participate in the LOT school if affiliated with one of the LOT institutes, or registered with one of the other LOGOS research schools. 
• Some courses are offered at the intermediate level, while others are offered at the advanced level. Advanced courses are intended for participants who have, typically, previously written a paper on the topic or are engaged in related research. If you are unsure whether an advanced course is appropriate for you, please check the course prerequisites or contact the lecturer. 
• You are advised to take no more than two courses per week.
• You are not permitted to register for RM1 courses with this form. Instead, please email lot@uva.nl to be put on the waiting list for an RM1 course.

 

Are you a PhD candidate?

• The LOT school welcomes PhD candidates from across the world.
• If you are doing a PhD in The Netherlands and you are registered with LOT (or one of the other LOGOS research schools), you do not have to pay any tuition fees to register for the summer school. Unsure whether this applies to you? Please contact LOT via lot@uva.nl
• If you are doing a PhD at one of the Belgian LOT partner institutes (VUB, UAntwerpen or KU Leuven), you must pay a tuition fee per course.
• PhD candidates are advised to sign up for no more than two courses per week.
• For PhD canddiates and second-year Research Master's students, LOT offers intermediate and advanced courses. Intermediate courses are for participants who have previously taken a course on the topic. Advanced courses are intended for participants who have, typically, previously written a paper on the topic or are engaged in related research.
• PhD candidates are not permitted to register for RM1 courses using this form. Instead, please email lot@uva.nl to be put on the waiting list for an RM1 course.

 

Are you a student who is currently enrolled in a Master's programme outside The Netherlands or the LOT-affiliated Belgian partner institutes?

Unfortunately, you cannot participate in the LOT school.
