Some F.A.Q. about the ceremony and the MECC Location

About (attendance) registration

I missed the deadline for registration, can I still join?
No, sorry. As the graduation ceremony is just a few days away, it's no longer possible to register or join the ceremony.

Is my UM card enough identification to get my diploma?
No, we need to see a valid ID, for example an EU identity card, drivers license or passport. Please also bring your UM card if you still have it. Sorry, we have to be quite strict about this.

If there is an emergency, who do I contact?
If you experience any issues on the day of your ceremony, for example, if you’re delayed in traffic and may miss registration, please contact us through phone or Whatsapp at +31 (0)6 83 16 50 64.

About the ceremony

Will there be a live stream? Yes, a live stream from the MECC will be available. You can find the link in your confirmation and in the practical information email.

Is it possible to take photos?
Yes, but please refrain from using flash photography. A professional photographer will take general photos during the ceremony, but individual photos of graduates will not be provided. You are welcome to take your own photos at designated photo spots before and after the ceremony.

Photographers will be present throughout the event. If you or your guests prefer not to be photographed, please inform the photographer.

The photos will be sent to you after the ceremony, no later than the beginning of January, using the email address you provided during registration.

Professional Photobooth
There will be a photographer’s stand to take a professional picture of you. By having your photo taken at this stand, you accept that it will be shared by FPN via a link available to all graduates. You will receive the link to the photos via the email address you used to register for graduation. You can then download your photo(s) via this link.

If you do not wish your photo(s) to be sent via this link, please contact us at fpn-gradceremony@maastrichtuniversity.nl before Monday 14 December to let us know. We will need your student number to process your request.

FPN accepts no responsibility for photos sent through the general link, or for requests not to use the link that are submitted incorrectly.

Can I choose my own seat?
The graduates will have assigned seats. Your guests are free to choose their own seats.

Does the MECC have free WI-FI?
Yes, free Wi-Fi is available. Simply select MECC_FREE_WIFI, accept the terms and conditions, and you’ll be connected.

Is there a cloakroom?
There will be a cloakroom. Please note that while we take great care, personal items left in the cloakroom are the guest’s responsibility. Thank you for understanding!

Parking at the MECC
Parking at MECC Maastricht is free of charge for the first half hour. After 30 minutes, you pay €4,50 per full hour, up to a maximum of €21 per calendar day. 

Charging stations
MECC Maastricht has a total of ten charging stations for MECC Maastricht guests and visitors. These are located at the P4 parking facility.

Parking for disabled people
For visitors with disabilities, designated parking spaces are available as close as possible to the entrance, in parking garage P1 or parking lot P4. Please place the official disabled parking pass (GPK) on the dashboard so it is visible through the windscreen when you use these parking spaces

Is there wheelchair access?
Yes. Designated parking spaces for visitors with disabilities are available as close as possible to the entrance, in parking garage P1 and parking lot P4. Please display your official disabled parking pass (GPK) clearly on the dashboard when using these spaces.

Once inside the MECC, our staff will be happy to assist you further.

Are pets allowed during the graduation ceremony?
Pets are not permitted during the graduation ceremony. Only registered assistance dogs are allowed inside the MECC during the event.

Restaurant SAAM
Restaurant Bar Bistro SAAM will also be open during the graduation ceremonies. From 10.00 to 19.00, you are welcome to the restaurant.
