Welcome on the registration website of the course entitled Introduction to Scientific Visualisation with Paraview on 19 May 2026 organized by the TU Delft Institute for Computational Science and Engineering (DCSE).

This course aims at MSc/PhD students and industry staff members who like to get familiar with Paraview for scientific visualization (see examples from https://data.4tu.nl/search?search=scientific_visualisation). The course is intended for any level of expertise, from beginners with no previous experience with Paraview to regular users wanting to know what more can the software offer.

Study goals:
After the course participants will:

  • Be able to load and visualise their dataset in Paraview
  • Know the main types of Paraview filters to improve the visualization of their dataset
  • Have practiced applying those filters on a guided tutorial
  • Be able to open Paraview through DelftBlue when more computational resources are needed
  • Have improved the visualization of their dataset with inspiration from https://data.4tu.nl/search?search=scientific_visualisation

Teachers:
Martin Lesueur (CEG) and Sijmen Zwarts (CEG)

Education method:
The first part will consist of a presentation followed by a tutorial. The second part will be interactive using the participant’s own dataset. The course will be organized on campus in the Penguin Lab.

Requirements:
You will be able to use Paraview on the desktops in the classroom but you may also bring your own device with the latest version of Paraview installed (https://www.paraview.org/download/). Please bring the data (final or draft) you want to visualise for the second part of the course.

Please register for the DCSE Newsletter to be updated for our upcoming events.

We look forward to welcoming you in Delft,

Am I a member of DCSE?

If your Principal Investigator (PI) is a DCSE representative, you are eligible to select the DCSE course fee. To determine if your PI is a DCSE representative, you have two options:

- Ask Your PI Directly: Contact your PI to confirm if they are affiliated with DCSE.

- Check the DCSE Website: Visit the DCSE Research Groups page. If your PI is listed there, they are a DCSE representative, and you qualify for the DCSE course fee.

Following these steps will ensure you have the correct information about your eligibility.
