We’re excited to invite Ecowende team members and their families to a special Family Day at the Onshore Service Base in IJmuiden, filled with fun, discovery, and hands-on learning! Join us for an engaging family day where children and adults alike can explore the world of renewable energy and offshore wind through interactive activities and behind-the-scenes insights. Grandparents and friends are welcome too.

To make the day accessible for everyone, you can choose from two sessions.

• Morning shift: 10:30 – 12:30

• Afternoon shift: 12:30 – 14:30

Why not combine your visit to the Ecowende Family Day with a trip to the IJmuiden Haven Festival? It’s the perfect opportunity to extend your day with even more activities, sights, and a lively atmosphere by the harbor.

Event Location

Onshore Service Base

The Onshore Service Base is located on a new street that navigation systems are not yet aware of. We recommend entering "Amsterdamstraat, IJmuiden" as your destination, but instead of turning onto that street, take the next one. Our building will be clearly visible once you reach that point.

Parking

Parking at the Onshore Service Base is on public ground, and while we cannot guarantee a parking spot for that reason, we do expect there to be sufficient space.

Activities

Wind Rotor Challenge

Think you can design the most efficient wind rotor? In this exciting challenge, you will create your own rotor using cardboard—cutting, shaping, and assembling blades to generate the highest possible voltage. Experiment with blade size, shape, and number, then test your design with a voltmeter and see how your ideas perform in real time.

Build & Power Your City

In this fun, hands-on activity, kids will build a simple circuit to power a wooden model house using a battery and an LED light. Each hexagon-shaped base plate represents a different part of a city—homes, markets, and industry—and connects together to form a vibrant community.

Along the way, children will discover how sustainable energy can power homes and neighbourhoods.

Ever wondered what it takes to run an offshore wind farm? Get an exclusive look behind the scenes of the Ecowende Onshore Service Base and learn about the essential operations and maintenance activities that keep our wind farm running smoothly.
