The 2026 Urban Energy Institute (UEI) Symposium is organised in collaboration with the closing event of the EU funded project ‘Piloting Underground Storage of Heat in Geothermal Reservoirs’ (PUSH-IT). The symposium will focus on the role of underground thermal energy storage in urban environments, both the technical and societal integration in the urban fabric.

This special event will bring together researchers, project partners, experts, policymakers and practitioners from various backgrounds to share results, reflect on lessons learned and discuss next steps for scaling up geothermal technologies and district heating solutions in urban environments.

The programme will feature keynote presentations, a guided visit to the High-Temperature Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage (HT-ATES) demonstration site at the TU Delft campus, poster sessions and interactive discussions.
