Inclusive Lunch to celebrate Diversity Day

Inclusive Education Community - Teaching Academy

6 October 2026 | Teaching Lab

Inclusive Education is not just a moral imperative, but a powerful driver of social and academic success. It fosters a culture of belonging, promotes diversity of thought, and ensures that every learner has the opportunity to thrive. By embracing inclusive practices, we create environments where students and staff feel valued and empowered to reach their full potential.

Join this lunch and be suprised by the many diverse education stories and bites your community has to offer.

The Event

Meeting each other and being curious about each other are important elements in creating connection and belonging. During the event people from different backgrounds will prepare food that is important to them and while preparing and eating, they tell you their stories of education and/or will tickle you with dilemma's to discuss.

Is there a better way to celebrate diversity day than by meeting new people and taste new foods?

Target Audience

This event is focused on inclusive education. While it is especially relevant for those involved in teaching, we warmly welcome students, support staff, and all others who would like to join and contribute. Please notice that there is a maximum capacity of 40 people.

Information about the speakers

The event will be opened by Jorge Martinez Castaneda and he will make his famous guacemole. For the other tables we are still looking for hosts. So if you have story or an idea, please share!

Background Inclusive Education Community

A hands-on masterclass on Inclusive Education in January 2025 revealed that many valuable initiatives are already happening at the university. Participants expressed a need to better understand these efforts and exchange experiences. In May 2025, we held a follow-up meeting to gather insights into current initiatives and participants’ wishes. Based on these outcomes, we will organize events that help educators connect, share experiences, and learn from each other. Our goal is to provide an overview of relevant initiatives and build a network that supports easy sharing, collaboration, and inspiration.

In 2026 we organised a session on Mentorship (January), on Conflict in student groups (March) and the Challenge Arena (May).
