Design for Values: capacity building and interdisciplinary exchanges

On 1 December the Delft Design for Values Institute (DDfV) will organize the research and impact day for all its members (from the faculties of IO, BK, EWI, CITG and TBM). Please have a look at this Linkedin post for a short recap of our previous edition. This time, we invite the projects and SIGs to share their results, and we will continue working on the Values Cards and methodology toolkit.

The DDfV has established various Special Interest Groups (SIGs) on topics like strategic autonomy, design justice, education and the AI Act, as well as a number of seeds projects (for an overview, see this page). During the impact day, we will inform members about these activities, look for synergies between activities to increases chances of societal impact, as well as prepare for an externally focused event to connect insights, methods etc developed within DDfV to practice*. The event will contribute to collaboration and synergies between different faculties in the area of design for values, and so help to strengthen the internal ecosystem as well as the possibilities to reach out to relevant external stakeholders and potential users of our methodologies and work on values. You are cordially invited to participate!

Objectives

  • The DDfV community gets informed about SIGs and projects

  • Collaboratively work on the handbook and DDfV toolkit

  • Connections and synergies across projects/ SIGs/ individuals are identified and exchanges are initiated. Further applications in which methods and approaches can be of value are identified. We look for synergies in research questions, methods, approaches, tools, expertise, concepts and theories.

What are we going to do?

  • Introduce the second edition of the handbook

  • Continue working on the methodology inventory and value cards

  • Seek synergies and collaborations in speed dating sessions

  • Join forces in developing a DfV toolbox

Please register via the form below.

Here you can find more on the previous research day: slide deck.

We will reach out to ask for your input on where the projects stand, and how the community can help!

We are looking forward to seeing how we can help each other advancing our work and projects!

Questions? Please reach out to Helma Dokkum and Monica Natanael.

*During the DfV research & Impact day in February we will interact with policymakers and professionals working on (policy for) spatial planning, housing, the built environment. We will explore how we can collaboratively advance policy and design practices and how the project outputs and outcomes could contribute to the policy agendas around these themes.
