What's on Europe's plate?

Science, policy and the future of food

26 November 2025 | 16:00 - 17:30 | Maastricht University, Law Faculty - Statenzaal

Trust on the table

How does Brussels regulate what Europeans eat, and how much say do citizens have in what ends up on their plates? The EU’s food safety landscape is complex, sparking legal, scientific, and public debates about risk regulation and consumer trust. Together with regulators, food experts, and civil society representatives we explore how European citizens’ diets are shaped by science, policy, and technological innovation.

This event marks the launch of a new series of dossiers on EU agencies, explaining their role in shaping European regulation and governance. We start with the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), an agency at the heart of the discussion on how science and policy interact in the food sector.
