Routes for start-ups in the energy transition
The transition towards renewable energy and net zero emission requires implementation of new technologies. This includes new electroyzer technology, rethinking energy distribution and storage, CO2 capture technology, electrified industrial processes, etc.. All of us at e-Refinery contribute to developing new technology, but how to valorize our research? Start-ups play an important role to roll out innovations. In this lecture, I will show the typical routes and opportunities for start-ups in the energy transition. How to define a product for your start-up? When to decide to start a start-up? What opportunities are currently available for e-Refinery? How to collaborate as a scientist with start-ups (and other companies)? Based on own experiences in co-founding Aquabattery and SeaO2 and working with many other start-ups, I will outline how a start-up can be initiated and where are currently opportunities for valorization.
