Defossilising the Chemical Industry by Renewable Methanol
Abstract:
The global petrochemical industry produces about 450 Mton polymers per year causing 2250 Mton of total life cycle emissions. About 78% of the emissions are caused by scope 3 emissions that can be reduced substantially by using renewable instead of fossil feedstocks. In this presentation the role of renewable methanol in the transition to a Net Zero and Circular chemical industry will be discussed from economic, ecologic and societal perspective.
