Information about Hackathon Immersive Tech 2025 

1 - 3 December 2025 

Are you a student with a passion for technology and innovation? Are you studying to become a software or hardware developer, 3D artist, or storyteller? Or are you a student in healthcare, marketing & business, or another field of expertise with an interest in Immersive Technology? Then hackathon Immersive Tech might be a great opportunity for you!

During this unique event you will explore the possibilities of immersive technology. Within 3 days you will work in a team to come up with an immersive and innovative solution for one of the challenges. Think about healthcare solutions, immersive stories or virtual cities. No technical skills are required!

Within the hackathon you can take one or more roles. Think about 3D artist, sound designer, storyteller, tester, healthcare professional etc. More information about these roles can be found on this page.

 

What is Immersive Tech?

Immersive Technology creates an experiences that appeal to as many senses as possible. Think about Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR), but also projections, or an interactive installation can be immersive. These technologies are widely applied to training in business or healthcare, for simulations in construction, for games and much more. During the hackathon, you will explore the possibilities of Immersive Tech and develop a prototype with it!

 

What are the challenges?

We are currently working on challenges with different stakeholders. You can think of:

- An inclusive stage for young people to express themselves, by Gemeente Rotterdam, Digital Child Rights and Stichting Levels

- An immersive story of the Visboeck by SURF, National Library and CWI

- An XR innovation for first responders by Veiligheidsregio Rotterdam-Rijnmond
