From Drongen train station

The symposium place is at a 5 minute walk from the train station of Drongen, which itself is a 5 minute train ride from the main Gent-Sint-Pietersstation. Outside the rush hours, there is only a train every hour, in each direction. From Gent-St-Pieters to Drongen, the trains leave at 15' before the hour, in the other direction they leave at 10' past the hour.

From the historic centre of Gent

Bus 17, every 20 minutes, connect the centre of Gent (Korenmarkt) with the venue. In the evening, there are buses from Oude Abdij to the centre of Gent at 21h46, 22h15 and 22h56. In the morning, there are buses from the Centre of Gent to Oude Abdij at 8h05, 8h19 and 8h35. The drive takes approximately 25 minutes.

CAR

Gent-Drongen is situated along the E40 motorway, exit 13. 
  
Parking 

There is ample (and free) parking space at the train station (both west and east side). The abbey itself has about 35 parking lots. To get to the parking on the west side (highway side) use the address Drongen station, 9031 Gent. To get to the parking on the east side (abbey side) use the address Drongenstationstraat, 9031 Gent. The abbey is an 800m walk from the station. If parked on the west side, first walk inside the tunnel for pedestrians and cyclists.

Special shuttle on Thursday evening and Friday morning

A private bus (50 places) will run between the monastery and Gent Centrum (Sint-Michiels, close to Korenmarkt) on Thursday evening (at 22:00 sharp from the monastery) and Friday morning (at 8h15 sharp from Sint-Michiels to the monastery).  

 

ACCOMMODATION and HOTELS

A limited number of single and double rooms are available at the monastery.

There is also a Van der Valk hotel at the exit 13 of the E40 highway (4 km from the venue).

The center of Ghent has many hotels, e.g.

Many more can be found on specialized websites. There are also hotels near the main train station (Gent-St-Pieters), from where there is a 5' train connection to Drongen.
