Bio
Thomas Münte is currently the Vice-President of Medicine at the University of Lübeck, Germany, and member of the executive board of the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein with sites in Lübeck and Kiel. He studied medicine at the Medical School in Göttingen from 1978 to 1985 and Neuroscience at the University of San Diego in 1981-1982. Münte earned his doctorate in 1989 and achieved neurology board certification in 1992. He trained as a neurologist in Hannover, Germany. He was Professor of Neuropsychology at the University of Magdeburg (1999-2010) and Director of the Department of Neurology at the University of Lübeck (2010-2022). His research focuses on the neurophysiological bases of language and cognition, with a special interest in the understanding of cognitive processes in neurodegenerative diseases. He has continuously received funding from the German Research Foundation (DFG) since 1998 and served as the chair of its neuroscience board.
