The 15th Annual MHeNs Research Day

'Awaking from coma: the road ahead'

On-site event

Wednesday 22 March 2023 - from 08.30-17.30 hrs

Van der Valk, Maastricht

The 15th Annual MHeNs Research Day will provide an overview of the multidisciplinary research conducted at our school. This day, 22 March, is also Word Coma Day. World Coma Day is an all-day global online event featuring stories of remarkable recovery, science talks by medical experts, educational sessions for patients and families, and "shout out" videos from providers, patients, and families around the world.

In Maastricht we also want to contribute to this day. We have invited two excellent keynote speakers who will highlight their work regarding diagnosing and treating different stages of coma after severe acquired brain injury (Dr. Olivia Gosseries, co-director of the Coma Science Group, Liege) and the rehabilitation possibilities after awaking from coma (dr. Marsh Königs, Daan Theeuwes Centrum Woerden). Can we really cure coma and how can we stimulate the plasticity of damaged brain?
The keynote talks will be interspersed with research pitches and interactive sessions on projects conducted across our themes and divisions, making this year’s Research Day and World Coma Day an event you will not want to miss.

For our external PhD students, living abroad, we will make it possible to attend this day online.

Best regards,

Prof. David Linden

Scientific Director - School for Mental Health and Neuroscience
