Welcome

Welcome to this year’s Annual MHeNs Research Day! This year, we’ll cover a range of topics that are relevant for everyone that is part of MHeNs.

We’ll begin with a lecture on scientific data management by Ron Mengelers, Dominiek Smit and Hellen Steinbusch. In today’s research landscape, data is almost entirely digital. Therefore, it’s important to learn how to collect, store and share data efficiently and securely, to make things easier for you and your colleagues, and to protect the privacy of your research participants.

Next, our guest speaker professor Evangelia Demerouti from Eindhoven University of Technology will talk about work-life balance, a vital topic for researchers and any staff member at every stage of their career.

This year, we are also privileged to hear directly from two research participants who will share their personal experiences. One patient was admitted to the ICU at the MUMC+ with traumatic brain injury and was included in the study to receive additional non-invasive neuromonitoring. A second patient, diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS), will share their experience as a patient at Zuyderland. Their stories will give us a unique and invaluable perspective on scientific research from a patient’s point of view.

As usual, PhD candidates have the chance to present their (ongoing) research through a pitch or poster presentation and get feedback and suggestions from their peers and continue the conversation over drinks afterwards.

This is promising to be another interesting Research Day, and we are looking forward to seeing you there!
