Sanquin evening and the Academy on COVID-19

The launch of Sanquin Health Solutions and the Academy. Tjark Tjin-A-Tsoi, Chairman of the Sanquin Executive Board, will take you through the ideas for this academic institute that we have geared to meeting the training needs of all the talent in the region in the fields of health, as well as tech and AI. Within the Academy we bundle all the knowledge and expertise of Sanquin and its partners, and then share this with a large group of companies, institutions and public parties.

The Sanquin evenings have been held for years already and have proved to be very interesting to a wider audience. The theme of this Sanquin evening is COVID-19. Like many organisations, Sanquin faces great challenges. In addition to continuing regular care, and maintaining the blood supply and services in the safest possible way, several initiatives have been put in place to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. This evening will start with a look at the epidemiology in the Netherlands and testing for SARS-CoV-2. This will be followed by a discussion on how donor antibodies can be used in the treatment of COVID-19. Finally, attention will be paid to the defence against SARS-Cov-2 virus, virus variants and response to vaccination, including in vulnerable patient groups.

We invite everyone to listen and participate. The discussion for this evening will be led by Prof. Hans Zaaijer, virologist, Sanquin, Amsterdam UMC. The programme ends at 18:00.

Led by highly experienced facilitators from Ecosystem Thinking Institute (ESTI) from the High-tech Campus in Eindhoven!
