Prof. John Camm

A. John Camm MD

John Camm is emeritus British Heart Foundation Professor of Clinical Cardiology at St. George’s Hospital Medical School, University of London, UK. Professor Camm graduated from Guy’s Hospital, London and pursued a career in cardiology at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London, before moving to St. George’s as British Heart Foundation Professor of Clinical Cardiology in 1986. Professor Camm is a Fellow of many professional societies, including the ESC. 

He has been the president of the British Cardiovascular Society, the British Heart Rhythm Society and the European Heart Rhythm Association. 

Currently His main interests are atrial fibrillation, antithrombotic therapy, left atrial appendage occlusion, AF screening, implantable ECG technology, SCD risk prediction, data  and safety monitoring for clinical trials.

He is President and trustee of the Arrhythmia Alliance, and founder of the Atrial Fibrillation Association, past Editor in Chief of Europace and the European Heart Journal – Case Reports and currently Editor in Chief of Clinical Cardiology and Editor of the European Society of Cardiology Textbook of Cardiovascular Medicine and its digital version ESC CardioMed. John Camm has been involved in the production of numerous guidelines, including the ESC guidelines for the management of atrial fibrillation. Professor Camm was awarded the ESC Gold Medal in 2005 and the British Cardiovascular Society Mackenzie Medal in 2008. He has authored or co-authored over 1300 papers and 40 books.

 

Prof. Helmut Pürerfellner

HELMUT PÜRERFELLNER, MD, FESC, FEHRA, FHRS, is head of the Department of Electrophysiology and Senior Consultant at Ordensklinikum Linz, Austria.  He has been actively working for the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) since 2011 including a duty as Scientific Program Chair for the Annual Congress (6000 participants in 2017) and was elected in the Executive Board as Treasurer for 2018-2020. He served as the International Affairs Coordinator in the period 2020-2022. He is currently EHRA Executive Board Member and EHRA President Elect for 2022-2024.
