Conference Venue

The conference will take place in the 'Texel Event Hall' with lodging at Holiday Park 'de Krim' on the island of Texel. The park provides everything you need for a wonderful stay, including the Event Hall, restaurants, well equipped accommodations and many other park facilities! Beaches, dunes, the lighthouse and the cosy village of De Cocksdorp are close by.

Texel is the largest 'Wadden' Island of the Netherlands; a Unesco World Heritage measuring ~10 by 20 km. Its beaches and dunes are a Dutch National park within super-short walking distance from the conference venue.

The Event Hall

The 'Texel Event Hall' will be the plenary hall during our stay. All talks and breaks will take place here. This includes:

• a breakfast buffet (every morning Tue-Fri)
• Every day a lunch buffet (Tue-Fri)
• in the morning and afternoon a coffee break (except Friday afternoon).

 

Accommodation at Holiday Park De Krim

At Holiday Park De Krim we made reservations for the whole group in well equipped, modern chalets. These chalets are designed to house 2 persons each and are equipped with two bedrooms that have their own individual bathroom! The large windows of the living room will create a close connection to the outdoors. The chalets are located close to the centre of Holiday Park De Krim and our plenary hall.

Nothing as Dutch as a bike ride! During Magnons on an island 2024 you will be able to rent a bike at Holiday park de Krim for the whole period. The bike can be used during leisure time. You can book this on the registration page.

Renting a bike costs € 45.- for 5 days (electric bike € 95,-)

Suggestions for the Wednesday afternoon, 18.09.2024:

We hired a bus (maximum 50 persons and is included) with departure time at the Krim at 14.00 hrs. that will bring you first to Paal 28 and second to Ecomare and return at 17.00 hrs. at Ecomare and departure at Paal 28 17.15 hrs:

1. Go for a nice hike! Transfer to Strandpavilion Paal 28 (transfer time approximately 10 minutes) located between two nature reserves, the Slufter and the Mandenvallei. This beach is the only bathing beach at the northern tip of Texel. From here you can hike either to the nature reserve the Slufter or to the lighthouse of Texel. To visit the lighthouse, you need an online ticket with time slot. It is wonderful at the top. You can enjoy the view at an altitude of 47 meters. Did you know that the Texel lighthouse is the only one in the Netherlands where you can see the sea from three directions?
2. To Ecomare (transfer time approximately 30 minutes). Ecomare is a nature museum, you learn lots about the Wadden Sea World Heritage, the North Sea and Texel. Ecomare is situated in the middle of the National Park Dunes of Texel. Afterwards you can walk to the beach for a nice hike.

• Clothing advice: Wear comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Don’t forget to bring a hat or cap and sunscreen.

Activities at Holiday Park De Krim:

Besides various restaurants, a big swimming pool, an indoor kids’play paradise there is also a bowling alley and a game hall. For the bowling alley and the game hall you need to make a reservation.

• Swimming pool the Krim . Entry to the swimming pool at Holiday Park De Krim is for all the attendees included (please mention at the reception in the Swimming pool the Krim that you are part of the CONFERENCE MAGNONS to get in for free). Opening hours are until 19.00 hrs.

• Bowling alley 4 automated bowling alleys, Bookable by 55 minutes, Maximum six people per bowling alley.
• Game hall. Play a round of ‘glow-in-the-dark’ 18-hole indoor minigolf course or challenge your colleagues to a thrilling game of laser tag.
