FROM SCHIPOL AIRPORT ✈️
🚆 You can take a train to Amsterdam Centraal Station which departs around 7 times an hour from platform 1-2 or 3. Single tickets cost €4.90 (+ a fee for issuing a paper ticket) and can be brought from machines or the “Ticket and Service” desk. You can also purchase an eticket to download to your phone from the NS website or using the NS app. The journey takes around 20 minutes.
🚋 From Amsterdam Centraal Station you can take tram number 14 (located at the east side of the station) with direction Flevopark. You can check in and out on the tram using your debit card, credit card or smartphone, or pay for your travel using the GVB app. Paper tickets can be bought on the tram and the lowest value/time is a 1-hour ticket costing €3.40. Get out at stop Artis. Continue walking down Plantage Middenlaan, the office is a few minutes away from the tram stop, on the left side of the street.
🚖 A taxi from Schiphol airport which will cost about €50-60 depending on traffic. A taxi from Amsterdam Centraal Station to the EAZA Executive Office will cost about €10-15. Uber is also available in Amsterdam.
FROM WITHIN AMSTERDAM
🚋 Tram number 14 (with direction Flevopark from the city centre) stops at Artis. Continue down Plantage Middenlaan for a few minutes until you reach the EAZA Executive Office on the left side of the street.
🚋 Tram numbers 7 (with direction Azartplein from the city centre), and 19 (with direction Diemen Sniep) stop at Alexanderplein. Walk across Sarphatistraat, over the bridge and down Plantage Middenlaan along the side of the zoo until you reach the EAZA Executive Office. You can check in and out on the tram using your debit card, credit card or smartphone, or pay for your travel using the GVB app. Paper tickets can be bought on the tram and the lowest value/time is a 1-hour ticket costing €3.40.
🚇 The closest metro stations are Waterlooplein (Hortusplantsoen exit) and Weesperplein, both are about 10-15 minutes’ walk to the office, or you can complete your journey using tram 14 (Waterlooplein) or 7/19 (Weesperplein). You can use a ticket brought on the tram for the metro, but if you start from the metro you need to buy a ticket from the metro station or use a card or phone to check in and out.
🚖 A taxi from Amsterdam Central Station to Artis Zoo will cost about €10 to €15.
Please note: Amsterdam’s public transport operator GVB has a cashless public transport policy, so you will not be able to pay cash on board the tram. You can pay in cash at selected ticket machines at all metro stations, or you can 'tap in' and 'tap out' using your bank card at the gates/payment machines on board. However, you must remember to tap out again otherwise you will be charged much more for your journey. This includes at Schiphol airport, where you will see the yellow card payment posts near the exits from the train platforms. These can be easily missed, so make sure you remember.
