Master Career Track 2025-2026
This registration is for LAW students only!

The Master Career Track (MCT) is a programme for master’s students designed to inspire and empower you to kickstart your career after graduation. After completion, you will have all the tools to start a career that suits you.

The Master Career Track consists of three interactive lectures:

1. Get to know yourself

What shapes my personality?
What do I enjoy doing?
What are my needs?
What brings me fulfilment?

Within this lecture, you will first identify everything that defines you: your qualities, interests, experiences, values, passions, and hobbies. Also, you will brainstorm about your ‘dream job’, including your values, needs and wishes for the future - and although that might feel a bit uncomfortable, or even naive in the first place, you will learn the benefits of this exercise. Subsequently, you have the tools to start practicing how to talk to others about these qualities, interests, needs and ambitions as a first step towards the labour market. The lecture will be followed up by two homework assignments to put the theory into practice. Also, you can join the additional deep-dive workshop “Discover your competencies” if you want to explore the topic further.

2. Explore the labour market

Where can I find job opportunities?
How do I use my network?
How can I use LinkedIn effectively?

In this lecture, you will discover how you can benefit from networking when exploring the labour market. You will get guidance to initiate online and offline networking with existing contacts and unknown networking partners. An indispensable resource for this is LinkedIn, about which you will learn all the features to expand your network and explore career opportunities. In addition, you will optimize your vacancy search strategies to find more vacancies that fit your needs and wishes. The lecture will be followed up by three homework assignments to start networking and looking at potentially fitting job opportunities. Also, you can join additional deep-dive workshops on how to use LinkedIn, search for fitting vacancies and practice your networking skills.

3. Enter the labour market

How do I get in touch with an employer?
How do I write a CV/letter of application?
What should I prepare for a job interview?

During this session, you will explore techniques for assessing job opportunities to ensure they match your abilities, needs and preferences. You will also gain insights into understanding what employers expect from your application materials and receive valuable advice on writing a well-structured and appealing CV and a convincing application letter to make a strong impression. Lastly, you will discover strategies for effective job interview preparation to enhance your chances of the job position. The lecture will be followed up by three homework assignments to work on your own introduction summary, a draft for your CV and a competence exercise. There is also the opportunity to join a workshop on contract negotiations as a next step.
