Dr. Jessica M. Alleva

Dr. Jessica M. Alleva is an Assistant Professor in the Eating Disorders and Obesity Research Group at FPN. The focus of her research is body image—that is, how people think and feel about the physical appearance and functioning of their body.

Specifically, she is interested in the factors that influence body image for the better or worse (e.g., social media, gender norms) and in the development of intervention techniques to foster a more positive body image within individuals and communities.

Dr. Alleva is also a consultant for EVERYBODY Consulting and for Meta (Facebook, Instagram), with the aim to advise clients on how they can best champion positive body image via their products and services. She is also the Associate Editor of Body Image: An International Journal of Research and a regular contributor to Psychology Today
