We would like to invite you for the Fifth UM Global Citizenship Education Symposium.

Registration is free of charge, but places are limited.

 

What can you expect?

Transformative engagement is the main focus of our fifth UM Symposium on Global Citizenship Education, which is scheduled for May 23rd 2024 starting at 10.30 till approximately 16.30 at Maastricht University.

 

Keynote speakers this year are Professor Martin Tomitsch, head of the Transdisciplinary School at the University of Technology Sydney and Professor of Psychology and Africana Studies at Columbia University in New York Colin Wayne Leach 

Professor Martin Tomitsch will focus on life centred design and reflect on TD School’s award-winning transdisciplinary programmes.

Professor Colin Wayne Leach will discuss the place of protest in ethical citizenship in a global world. 

 

Further on there will be breakout sessions and workshops, where you can discuss and engage in the following topics (This list might be further extended): 

  • Human rights and peace education in a global context

  • Community-engaged higher education

  • Helping students develop an entrepreneurial mindset

  • Reciprocal collaborative learning with global partners

  • Dialogue on/with Generation Alpha (our future students, now at Porta Mosana)

  • Coping with eco-anxiety
